Nearly 40 years of breeding underpins the Kandoona Red Brahman Stud. Started in the mid 1960’s by Bevan and Liz Radel from very humble beginnings, the stud now joins 700 females and sells in excess of 250 herd and stud bulls per year Australia wide. Growth, fertility and constitution are the fundamental principles on which Kandoona seeks to deliver to its customers.

A turning point in the stud’s development was the purchase of Lancefield D Robinson in 1993 for $32,000. Selected for his muscle, bone, growth and excellent temperament, Robinson has gone on to be one of the most influential red sires in the breed. Over the last 15 years we have sold 80 sons at auction to average $9,162.

The Radel family also runs a medium sized commercial cattle operation in Central Queensland which turns off up to 3,000 grass and crop fattened prime cattle per year. The challenge of achieving market specifications from our commercial cattle keeps the selection criteria for our stud cattle relevant and practical.

In the past decade Kandoona Red Brahmans have moved into artificial breeding to mass multiply our superior genetics, with specific focus on the elite cow families that we have identified within the Kandoona Red Brahman herd.

The Kandoona Red Brahman Stud is family owned and operated with the third generation, while still only young, now showing a keen interest. With a continuation of the sound, commonsense principles adopted to date, Kandoona Red Brahmans will continue to deliver results based genetics solutions to its customers.
